While on a cross country road trip Stefanie stopped to take pictures of some vintage Route 66 motels in the small town of Seligman, AZ. Stefanie got out of the truck, placed the Supai Motel sign square in her viewfinder and fell in love.
Some people might just see a sign, Stefanie saw a piece of art with history and a gorgeous sense of style. And in that very first frame, Retro Roadside Photography was born.
Since that day Stefanie has taken numerous road trips chasing vintage signs in an attempt to capture and preserve a disappearing culture. Stefanie is in the midst of a 21,000 miles road trip across 48 states to photograph as many signs as possible to continue the Retro Roadside project.
